Hi Raymond!
OpenDrive's versatility allows for several ways for which you can store, back-up or sync your files.
For your question the main differences of Backing and Syncing are as follows:
Back-up - Is a one-way update. Changes made from your local computer will be updated to your OpenDrive account but changes made from your online files will not update back to your local computer where the files are backed up, When files are deleted locally, it will not affect files uploaded to your OpenDrive account.
Sync - is a two-way update which basically 'mirrors' anything that happens locally and online, any changes you make locally will be updated to your OPenDrive account and any changes you make online will also update your files to your computer. This also follows that deleting your file locally will cause OpenDrive to delete your files online, this is useful when you need to automate processes and you want it so that deleting the files locally also clears your OPenDrive account of the file.
is it possible to remove a file locally and still have it online and still have a view of it locally so when I want to access it I can just select it and will download it to my local drive at that time? This is how google drive and onedrive work and I am trying to replace that functionality.
